Well, Bienvenue!
Yes, that's French. We just returned home yesterday from our trip to New Orleans or as the locals say "Nawlins". We stayed in the French Quarter at Hotel Monteleone. I highly reccommend it if you ever go there. Here are a few pics of New Orleans. One of the things that I found really interesting was their cemeteries. Due to the water level underground they cannot bury their dead under the ground so all of the dead is buried in these above ground tombs. Here are a few pics of one cemetery and its tombs. Many of these look similar but if you go to the older cemeteries these graves differ more.
We drove down Saturday and arrived in New Orleans around 4pm. We decided to go sight seeing in the French Quarter. Next month we are taking our Youth Choir there so we wanted to check out the hotel and Bourbon St near the hotel so we would already be aware of what was around the hotel along with restaurants, etc. We walked quite a bit and Calloway rode in her stroller. She was such a good baby and tolerated the bumpy sidewalks really well. We went to Bubb Gump Shrimp for dinner and it was delicious. We also stepped inside a few art galleries and shops.
On Sunday morning we went to the Rivers Edge Cafe for brunch and walked through Jackson Square. While we were eating brunch there was a street performer outside the restaurant who was dressed as a robot complete with silver suit, silver skin, a silver boombox, and silver piping stuff on his clothes. He did robotic dancing and stuff. It was pretty clever entertainment and fun to watch. We also went inside St. Louis Cathedral and a couple of old book stores. We walked along the Mississippi River Walk and rode the Street Car. That evening we went to FBC New Orleans for the Baptist Church Music Conference. The Conference lasted through Tuesday night. Sunday night after the conference we went out to Copeland's Cheesecake Bistro for dessert/snacks. Then Monday night after the conference Mark and our good friend Joe Fitzpatrick went to eat at Landry's Seafood. Calloway and I didn't go...we went to bed! Then Tuesday night after the conference we walked down to the famous Cafe du Monde where we had beingets (donuts). They were very good!
We got up Wednesday morning and headed home. The drive is about 8 1/2 hours.
Mark had a Great first Father's Day! Thanks for all of the cards and phone calls.
Calloway is learning to sit up by herself. Here are a few pics of her sitting on the couch at FBC New Orleans and some of her playing in the floor at our house. It is very hard to believe that she is almost 6months old!!! My little baby isn't so little anymore! She is so happy all the time and very social. At the music conference she just smiled at everybody and was the talk of the weekend.

Well, now that we are home for several weeks, I hope to blog more! It is summer and I am not working so check back more often for updates!
