Nashville

Wow! What a great time we had in Nashville this past week. Mark drove up on Saturday for the Baptist Church Music Conference and then Calloway and I flew up on Tuesday evening. We stayed in the Gaylord Opryland Hotel.

Wednesday
That morning we went on the Homes of the Stars Tour, where you get to drive by a bunch of stars homes. We saw Alan Jacksons house (it was the biggest one we saw)
,
Trace Adkins house (his youngest daughter was outside playing), Dolly Partons house
, Martina McBrides house

, Little Jimmy Dickens house, Faith Hills House
, Kicks Brooks house
, Ronnie Dunns house, Vince Gill and Amy Grant, Tammy Wynette, and others that I can't remember.

Then we went to the OpryMills Mall where we had lunch at The Aquarium restaurant

(This is a really ugly fish that Calloway was scared of). Then we went to StingRay Reef where Calloway and I pet and fed the sting rays.. That was pretty cool! Of course we did a little shopping, and Calloway got new Crocs and we did Build-A-Bear.

Later that evening we hung out at the hotel because there is so much to see and do there. With over 2,000 guest rooms it is the largest non-gambling hotel in the World!! I believe it!

Thursday
We got up and went to the Grassmere Zoo. It started pouring rain just after we got there. Apparently the put the animals away during storms so we didn't get to see many of the animals. When the sun came out we did get to ride the carousel and Calloway and I played on their playground. This zoo was not a very good zoo. There was so much walking between exhibits that we didn't really enjoy it, but the playground was Awesome!

We went back to the hotel, freshened up and spent the rest of the day there walking around, eating, riding the little riverboat in the hotel, etc.

Friday
We drove over near Vanderbuilt University where I had heard about this place called the Pancake Pantry. Everything that I had read on the internet said that even if the line is around the block, it is worth the wait. There wasn't a very long line when we arrived so we waited. It was the BEST breakfast we had our whole trip. I do highly recommend it.

Then we drove downtown to the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum. First of all, we aren't huge country music fans. So, we didn't really care for it that much but it was neat to see all of the things inside the museum. My favorite was Carrie Underwood's Dress.

Then we walked to the Wildhorse Saloon for lunch. It is a very famous place to eat, line dance, and hang out. During lunch time it is family friendly.
We went back to the hotel and took a nap. That evening we went on the General Jackson Showboat. It is a 3hour dinner cruise and show. We had a blast and sat with some very nice people.

To see tons more pics go to Calloway's Photo Album or my Facebook page.

  1. Wow, your post makes me miss home sooo much. Opry Mills Mall was a favorite place for us to go. We only went to the Nashville zoo on field trips and I was never empressed either. The Wild Horse Saloon is a fun place. Although I haven't been since the girls were born.

I'm glad you enjoyed your trip. Nashville is a fun place to visit and live close to. We both grew up in Franklin (about 15 minutes south) and we lived in Murfreesboro (about 15 minutes south east) after we got married.
