A Happy Birthday and Valentines Day

Most of you who read this know that I celebrated my 30th birthday yesterday. We actually celebrated on Saturday since Sunday was already such a busy, crazy day. Saturday morning I got to open my birthday present. I got an owl necklace from Mark and a purple shirt from Calloway. I have been bugging Mark for months that I wanted an owl necklace but I didn't want that goldy-bronze color, I wanted silver. He and Cal made several trips to the mall and other stores looking and he finally found one. Then, I chose to go eat at Don Pablos for lunch with some of our dearest friends. We had a great time eating and just enjoying being together. Then Mark and Calloway took me to the dollar jewelry store and I picked out a few things there.
Overall it was a great day and we just relaxed at home the rest of the day. That evening Calloway was drawing with chalk on her art easel and this is the picture she drew.
When she showed it to us, Mark asked her what her picture was and she said that she drew how much she loves mommy! AWE! Isn't that sweet! No wonder I love the little toot so much! Talk about the perfect birthday present.
Here we are as a family on Sunday morning, at church, and if you look closely you can see my owl necklace that Mark got me. I love my sweet little family!
We had a Valentines banquet last night at church and that was a nice treat. Our dear friends Terry & Barbara volunteered to keep Calloway so that we could go, they are really sweet to us and a God send. Cal has started calling Barbara grandma sometimes.....it's really cute and special! She loves them a lot!

Today is Valentines Day in case you didn't know, and whoever thought that it would be a smart idea to have Valentines parties on Monday, was kind of crazy.....wow, my students were on a high today. But we had a great time and I got some very sweet Valentines from my kiddos, I love them! I am also very lucky to be married to a man who has a flexible schedule and will do sweet things for me like come to our parties at school and  bring Calloway with him. It means a lot to me when they come.
Last week, Cal and I had gone shopping for Valentines cards for Mark and on the way to the store, she said, "Mommy I don't have any Valentimes clothes." You see my mom generally makes her an outfit for every holiday but this time around, she hadn't felt well, and they've been snowed in for what seems like ages. Anyway, later that evening we were Target and I came across the cutest little top that said "Love Bug" and the cutest little pants, and then I remembered this adorable yellow skirt my mom had sent back at Thanksgiving for Cal to wear and I thought that those 3 items put together would make the CUTEST non-traditional Valentine's colored outfit. So, here is how my cutie-pie looked today!

Btw, it is really hard to get a 3yr old to pose sometimes.....it has to be their idea and you better pray that the camera is as fast as they are.
When we got home from school this afternoon, we did our family valentines.Calloway got a bag full of small goodies like bubble bath, new pony tail holders, M&M's (her favorite), a new book, and Dora stickers (also a favorite). Then we opened cards from both of our families and Cal got a little package from Grandmother. She was very excited to open it! Richard and Roselyn sent us a gift card to Red Lobster and we decided we would go try to beat the crowds and have dinner there tonight. Well, we didn't quite beat the crowd but we didn't have to wait too long either. Then Mark was off to a rehearsal and Cal and I went to Michael's. What a date, and how romantic is that? Oh, well, we'll celebrate later.
We hope you all had a Happy Valentines Day as well, and don't forget that the ultimate love of our lives should be the Lord our God!
Happy Valentine's Day!
