A Late Birthday Visit

A couple of weeks ago, I celebrated my 30th birthday and what I didn't know was that my parents had made plans with Mark to come for the weekend and surprise me with a little birthday visit. Unfortunately they got about 18 inches of snow and couldn't come. So, we rescheduled for this past weekend.

Mom, Dad, and Sassy (their 3rd child) came down on Thursday during the day and arrived at the house early in the afternoon while I was still at work. I quickly picked Cal up from the sitters and she couldn't wait to get home and see Sassy. That's all she talked about in the car. Thursday evening Mark was singing with the Master Chorale at the anual Gala and he wouldn't be home until later that evening. So, I had the chance to hang out with my parents, just me and Cal. Mom and I were both in a Mexican kind of mood so we went to dinner at La Playa Maya. A while back in Arkansas where my parents live, there was a $1 jewelry store where you could get some pretty good stuff, but it closed. A few weeks ago I noticed that opened one here in Fort Worth, so I took mom to check it out. We got a few things while dad and Cal went down and checked out the new Sprouts. Then we headed off to Joann's fabrics. Do you remember when I told you about redoing Cal's room, all but the curtains? Well, since my handy-dandy seamstress had come to town, I told her that I wanted her help (well, actually for her to make)  with the curtains for Cal's room. So we went in search of some material. We found some cute polka dot material and mom planned to sew on Friday while I was at work. (Here would be the perfect opportunity for me to insert a picture of those cute curtains, but I haven't even taken a picture of them.....I will get to that!)

On Friday when I got home from school we treated ourselves to a frozen treat at Braum's. Then Mark made his infamous chicken parmesan for dinner. We also wore out Wheel of Fortune for the Wii.

Saturday mom and dad had to get home and back to their responsibilities there. Dad has a herd of cows to look after and they serve in vital areas of the church and had to be back for Sunday.

It was a short visit, but we always love getting to see them. Calloway especially loves getting to play with Sassy. And dad and I look for every opportunity to be silly and giggle like a bunch of geese. Guess that's why I'm such a daddy's girl! Unfortunatly I didn't take many pictures this weekend......
