Lent

You may or may not realize that yesterday was Fat Tuesday and today begins a period of time in the Christian church called Lent. Lent is the 40 days leading up to Easter. The 40 symbolizes the 40 days that Jesus spent in the desert. During Lent the idea is that you give up something and use that time to focus more clearly on God through prayer, repentancec, almgiving, and self-denial.

In the past Mark has given up things but I haven't. This year we have made a pact together to give up sodas. Yes, my beloved Coke

and Mark's Dr. Pepper.

We know that we can encourage each other through this and we pray that God can use this time to reveal His will to us regarding some of those big burdens we face right now. I would like to ask you to join us in giving up something in order to focus more on God. And I'd like to ask you that when you drink a Coke or a Dr. Pepper between now and Easter that you would remember Mark and I and lift us up in a little prayer.
