YCMT 2011 - Day 3

On Wednesday morning we got up and headed to the zoo. They have this really neat sign that's out by the highway and no matter what direction you are coming from, it reads "Zoo", kinda cool!
Here are all of our teens that went on the trip.
And of course, my favorite, the giraffes. No zoo is complete without a little visit to my long neck friends.
After the zoo, we headed to lunch at The Fatted Calf. The name really appealed to me because I'm 100% positive it's somewhere my dad would love to eat, not just the name but the food too!
We feasted on delicious burgers and the best onion rings I've ever had! No lie! The best!
After lunch we made a quick stop at the hotel to change clothes and then it was off to the St. Louis Art Museum. Which is free by the way, in case you are ever in town.
Our group outside minus Pat and George who were taking the photos.
The painting below was one of my favorites. I can't remember the artist's name (isn't that bad?). Anyway it's a triptyche, and it's called November, December, and January.
There was also some cool furniture like this chest of drawers.
Then we went to a men's homeless shelter near downtown.
Where we served dinner,
hand delivered their trays and got them anything they might need i.e. drinks, condiments, etc.
Cleaned up after dinner
and did a concert for the 45 men there. While there, 2 men accepted Christ as their Lord Savior.
When we got back to the hotel I got the joy of being the "mom" on the trip which basically means "person who does everyone's laundry". You see we had plans to wear these Jade YCMT T-shirts for Thursday also, but with 104 degree temps many of us sweat and our shirts were nasty! So to pass the time while doing laundry, we set up camp at the end of the hallway in our hotel and enjoyed a game of "Apples to Apples".
Stay tuned for historical Thursday.....
