Train Ride to the Aquarium

Back in August, Mark's mom, step-dad, and maternal grandparents came for a quick weekend visit. It was important for us to get to see them because, Roselyn, Mark's mom, was heading off to Afghanistan (sp?) the beginning of September and wouldn't return until right before Christmas. She wanted to see us before she left. Calloway really loves her because she has an iPad and Cal has become quite good at manuevering it and she enjoys playing Angry Birds and many other games on it.
We got up Friday morning and headed to the train station. You can take the train from Fort Worth to Dallas for the day for about $6. It sure saves a lot in gas and parking.
Here we are hanging out at the train station waiting for the train.
And here we are "fake waving" with Mark's maternal grandparents.
And here's Cal with Richard and Roselyn, of course wearing Grandpa's Hat.
Standing by the old dining car outside.
And finally the train has arrived!
Such a big girl riding in the train.
As soon as we got to Dallas we decided it was time to eat lunch. So we headed to the ever popular Spaghetti Warehouse. Now let me explain the picture below. We needed a table for a party of 7. So they took us to the very back where there was this old brass bed that had been turned into a large booth and up above in the canopy part of the ol' bed was a giant mirror......can we say AWKWARD!!!
Anyway, this picture was taken looking up into the mirror trying to get one of everyone!
Calloway kept wanting to drink some of my drink, so we finally just got two straws.....
She and grandmother went in the train car to have their picture made.
Then it was off to the Dallas World Aquarium. The aquarium is setup in a really neat way where you go through the layers of the rainforest. So one of the first things we saw was these large anteaters.
A Sloth......who was REALLY cute and fun to watch! I think he was my favorite animal of the day.
These monkeys..... I think they were Pigmy Marmosets.
Of course, parrots
Here are Gerald and Helen in front of the waterfall.
A manatee hang out below
These fish are really amazing looking to me.....
these Sea Dragons are pretty cool too!
A trip through Shark tunnel.....
Outside to see the penguins
A stop to have our picture made with the owl
And of course sitting on the ledge 6 inches away from the jaguar, which Cal kept referring to as "Baby Jaguar" from 'Go, Diego, Go'.
And that was pretty much our day at the Aquarium. We took tons of photos but I know most of you don't want to read about all of the animals we saw.

Stay tuned for day 2 and 3 of their visit.
