The Decorations

I've been intending to do a post to show you how I decorated the house this year for Christmas. Unfortunately as I was uploading the photos I realized I didn't get a picture of my wreaths outside, Calloway's festive bathroom and bedroom, my dining room table, or my giant candy cane. Oh well! I guess there's always next year.

Welcome to our home at Christmas-time!
The picture above is the tree with lights on and hopefully in the one below you can kind of see the decorations and color scheme that I use on our tree. It's mostly reds, lime greens, golds, and browns. I chose this color scheme about 2 years ago and I love it! I love that it is the traditional colors of Christmas but with a more modern touch.
This is Caloway's little Christmas tree. I didn't get a picture of it "in daylight" so that you could see the ornaments and such. Oh well. All of the ornaments on the tree are hers and it's very whimsical.
This is my nativity set perched on top of one of the bookcases in our living room. The set was given to me by my mother when she was purchasing a larger set for her home. She had gotten this set when I was little girl and I remember how much I loved it every year when she would pull it out. So a few years ago when she got a new one, I kindly asked for the old one. I think it's one of my favorite things to put out at Christmas time. I also secretly want to have a nativity collection one day! I think that would be really neat. I just don't know where I'd display all of them.
The entry way table housed another nativity which is child friendly. A lady gave this set to Calloway and she loved going over to look at it all season.
The other bookcase acts as our mantle and holds our stockings which I had monnogrammed by a lady at our church a couple of Christmases ago. I found the stocking at Target and the matching tree skirt. Scroll back up to picture #2 to see it.  You will also notice Calloway's small nutcracker collection in this photo as well. Since Mark's mom has a HUGE nutcracker collection, Calloway is always wanting to buy and pick up nutcrackers at the store. She wants them for herself though. So, we might start Cal a little collection. We'll see!
And of course you can't forget the outside of  the house! I love our lights! Mark does such a great job with them every year. I also love that he is so meticulous when it comes to putting up the lights. He is more of a perfectionist at this than I am.
This year I decided to display my winter village (Dept. 56 The Original Snow Village) on top of the cabinets in the kitchen. I was actually very pleased with how it turned out.
Here is a close up of the buildings I put up this year. *All of my pieces wouldn't fit and neither of my churches would fit because the steeples were too tall.

Thank You for stopping by and visiting our little home during the wonderful holiday season.
May God Bless You and Your Family Throughout the New Year!
