So this year, "the girls" decided to do something a little different and fun!
My Mom, Aunt LeAnn, Aunt Susan, my sister Libby, and I are all pretty crafty girls in our own ways. Well a mutual friend of ours and her "family girls" had started a new tradition last Christmas where they all make something and do a craft swap. I thought that this was a fabulous idea and I shared with my "family girls" and we decided we'd give it a try.
So after spending much, too much, time on Pinterest I decided on those yarn wreaths....except I decided to alter the idea a little. I decided that it would be more fun to wrap the wreaths in jute. I also needed to add little embellishments to the wreaths and came across several blogs and pins where people had made felt flowers. So, about the time I had decided what I was going to make, Pinterest decided that it would be a good idea to create these secret boards so that no one else could see what you were pinning! THANK YOU PINTEREST!!!! S, I began pinning flower patterns right and left and here's what I came up!
My Aunt LeAnn is a huge Razorback fan so I decided that red, black, and white would make the perfect color pallet for her.
My mom's favorite color is blue, so I knew I couldn't go wrong with blue. And keeping in mind that she lives on the farm and loves her some shabby chic stuff, I thought the brown was a nice added touch.
My Aunt Susan is the most eclectic of them all and I decided that Houndstooth looked just like her!
Plus you gotta add green when it's the girl's favorite color. So hers was lime green, gray, purple, navy, and Houndstooth.
The easiest one of the bunch was my sister's. This girl lives for her zebra print and hot pink. So I added a little glitter black, solid black, and small white rosettes. The flower on the right is actually hot pink. Sorry it is reading reddish on my computer screen.
And here's how they all looked once I got them all wrapped in Jute and the flowers glued on!
I'm so happy with how they turned out! I am NOT taking orders at this time.....sorry!
Brianna, my cousin, turned 18 this year. In our family, once your an adult, you don't really get presents anymore, so she gets to join in on the Girls Craft Exchange......I'm so excited for her! I've even already got a few ideas rolling for next year......
Now what did everyone else make, you ask?
Well, my mom made these awesome Burlap stockings and ornament frames.
She let us pick the colors and I'm so excited about how fun and whismy the colors turned out!
My Aunt Susan made us all trees.....of course mine is covered in music paper!
Wait! Not just any music.....but Christmas Carols of course! I love it!
It's so my personality!!!!
My sister Libby made us all jewelry....ya'll she is the expert jewelry maker!
I mean, if that girl wasn't so busy flying through the sky and taking care of "The Little Guy", she'd probably open up an Etsy shop and sell her awesome creations!
My Aunt LeAnn, remember the one who made Calloway's Sock Monkey Stocking Cap,
she made us all the brightly colored coasters
and the most wonderful Christmas-y pot holder set!
My granny, my mom's mom, didn't officially participate in the "Girls Craft Exchange" made Mark and I this Scrap Quilt for our bed for Christmas. It was such a nice gift and took lots of time and thought, and I know it was stitched with much love, so I thought it deserved a place in this post too!
Now go get your girl friends or gals in your family and get CRAFTIN'!
My cousins and I do a bunch of stocking stuffers, and a white elephant gift exchange. For our stocking stuffers we are doing a "homemade Christmas" next year! I have a bunch of pins on my pinterest of things I want to try. This post made me even more excited!
