I can't believe that we just finished celebrating the FIFTH birthday of our child! I knew people always said that time goes faster the older you get AND I'm really starting to believe it! How can it be possible that my little girl is 5 and that she'll be starting Kindergarten this fall?!?!?
Please read my previous post to see how we celebrated on her actual birthday while at the Ski Slopes and her small family parties in Arkansas. But for her friend party this year, she wanted a horse and cow-girl theme. But first let me explain something.....
the title "Cal-Girl". Yes. That's a play on words. You see when I was in high school I babysat for a family who had a daughter named Caleigh and they called her "Cal-girl" for short. I've always thought that was a cute nickname. What I didn't know is that my own daughter, who we kind of nicknamed Cal, would grow to have such a love and passion for horses that she'd want to be an actual cowgirl. So that is why the post is called Cal-Girl because she truly is our little cowgirl.
I never realized that having a birthday in the winter was so difficult until my child was getting ready to celebrate her 1st birthday. You see, people don't just open up the doors of their own homes anymore when they throw birthday parties. The "thing to do" these days, is to have the party at some venue where you bring your stuff and then they basically do all the clean up. With a winter birthday, you can't just go to the park and get a pavilion, or go swimming, or take her and a group of friends horseback riding......so, we had to be creative and find something to do indoors. Since we've moved to a small town, that has become increasingly more difficult. Luckily, we aren't too big or too cool for bounce houses yet and there happens to be a warehouse here that they've turned into a party place that has bounce houses. So, that became our option for this year.
Calloway invited the 10 kids in her Pre-K class and 15 kids from church. We had a good turnout with 14 total. I am really beating myself up because I didn't even get a picture of the table decorations, cupcakes, or anything. But here's what I did capture......
