Splish-Splash!

Friday night we took Calloway's friend Claudia and her mom and brother and went back to the Splash Pad. This time Calloway didn't really want to play in it at all but Claudia had a blast! Unfortunately Claudia cut her foot on something so we had to leave.
Finally Swim Time!

Saturday we were invited to Kelly's graduation/swim party. Kelly is a sweet girl in our youth group at church and she's watched Calloway a couple of times for us. So we finally got to go swimming for the first time this summer! We really enjoyed being in the water and Cal loved her pink swimmie! She did really well and was quite Ms. Independent before the day was up.

Playing in the Sprinkler (Calloway Style)

Saturday night we went out to play in the sprinkler, Calloway again was somewhat leary of it. After we'd been out there a few minutes she began calling the water rain. So, being the brilliant child that she is, she told me she needed her umbrella. I, being a good mom, went in the house and got her new umbrella and this is how you play in the sprinkler "Calloway Style"!

Crafty Mondays
I've decided that this summer we will do something "crafty" on Mondays! The other day I purchased a finger painting kit and this morning after breakfast Calloway had a great time getting her fingers all goupy.

Swimming Lessons
Calloway started her swimming lessons today. Let's just say that Day One didn't go quite like I had pictured. She spent the entire class (except when she was swimming in the water with Ms. Allison) clinging tightly to the poor lifeguard girl. Unfortunately, this girl didn't really help matters. Calloway and another little boy were clung to her the whole class. They were crying and pointing at us and saying, "Mommy, Mommy" off and on the whole time. It was sad and hard but I knew that this is what is best. Anyway, the lifeguard chick didn't talk to them or help calm them down she sat there holding them. I felt kind of bad for Calloway but I am hoping and praying that over the next few days that she gets a little more used to it.
When she was in the water with Ms. Allison she did really well! She dunked her a couple of times and Cal didn't cry. They worked on kicking their feet as she pulled them along and even worked on back floating, jumping off the side of the pool, and helping them learn to swim to the side. Calloway went under water many times and was only scared the first couple of times. After that she just kind of got used to it I guess. Anyway, sorry there are no pics from Swimming lessons Day 1 but hopefully as the week goes on I'll be able to take some.
