Many of you know how much I love trying to match all of our outfits for Easter and Christmas. Well, this year I thought it would be nice to try and go in the blue family. I found this lovely dress at JC Penney's for Calloway and thought it would be perfect! Especially since Mark and I could go either the blue or the green route.
Well one evening we were shopping at JC Penney's again and I came across this shirt ande tie. I thought that they would be perfect for Mark and he could wear them with his gray suit... I wasn't even about to go down the white suit path.
Then the time came for me to find a dress. After going through many, many stores, looking online, and looking through catalogs, I finally came across this white dress in the Chadwicks catalog and immediately ordered it. I had the hardest time finding something for me to wear! I think next year, I'll buy mine first.....
My dress finally came in the mail on Thursday before Easter....yep that's 3 days before Easter. When I tried it on I was a little disappointed because I felt that it was too white and needed something to spruce it up. I decided then that I was going to have accessorize to the max! So, Cal and I went off to my favorite accessory shop "Compass Trading Co" with her dress in tow to match blue or green jewelry to. Whatever I could come up with. Well, I came across thess huge greenish-blue pearls and I loved them. They weren't exactly the color of Calloway's blues/greens but I thought they would be nice. So I got the necklace the earrings.....later I wished I had bought the bracelet too.
I took those home and tried that on and there was still something not quite right. So I showed Mark and asked his opinion. He said it needed something else too. Then my brilliant husband blurts out, what about one of those ribbony belt things that you wear sometimes. I couldn't believe that my husband had come up with such a brilliant idea. So, on Friday night, we headed off to Hobby Lobby to hopefully find some ribbon that would match the blue/green pearl necklace. Now I know that in the picture above they don't look the same color, BUT they were.....the exact same! I was so excited that I found something that would work.
Now the next problem occured....this wasn't one of those ribbons where you buy the whole spool. No, this was done by the yard. Thankfully I've learned just enough from my momma to get by in times of desperation. I quickly undid the straight pin, pulled that sucker around my waist, left a little extra, held it up to the table where I could measure and determined that a yard and a half would be pushing it, so I went with 2 yards. Better to have too much and need to cut it off, than not enough!
Here's the final look!
The last several years we have spent our Easter Sunday with our dear friends (or church family as we call them) The Olson's. A couple weeks back Mark and Clayton were talking and he asked if we'd ever been to Texas de Brazil, of course we hadn't. So, the guys decided that we would make reservations for 1:30pm on Easter Sunday for lunch. Now, Mark and I were already planning to celebrate since this would be our first Coke and Dr. Pepper's since we began Lent. Btw, for those of you out there wondering how we did.....well, neither of us cheated. We made it the whole way through and we survived. There were times that it was difficult due to traveling and other circumstances but we managed. It was harder for me at times than I thought it would be.
Anway, back to celebrating and having a good lunch. Here's the front of the restaurant. They even have a sign outside that reads "Appropriate Attire Required".
The way it works is this. Once you get seated, you are welcome to the giant salad bar area which is full of cheese, breads, soups, sushi, salads, veggies, and more than you can imagine.
On your table each person has a little token. When you are ready for "the MEAT" you flip your token over to green and... the gouchos come by with these huge skewers and knives that all kinds of meat on them. We had flank steak, bacon wrapped pork, bacon wrapped chicken (which was my favorite), top sirloin (which was the house special), sausage, pork ribs, lamb chops, parmesan chicken, parmesan pork, and they also bring your table a bowl of garlic mashed potatoes and fried bananas. The bananas have been covered in cinnamon and sugar and fried and are "perfect for cleansing the palette between cuts of meats".Our table was upstairs and we sat right in front of the wine cellar. It is a very beautiful restaurant! And yes, that flower arrangement on top of the salad bar was huge and REAL!
Here is little miss thang enjoying her crutons, bread, and cheese that I got her off the salad bar.
Mark and I! I love this picture. You can see part of the wine cellar behind us. And yes! That's my coke in the foreground!
After lunch we went back to the Olson's house and played an enjoyable game of Apples to Apples and just hung out and enjoyed the company and relaxed.
