First of all I'd like to start with a small disclaimer - ALL PARENTS think their child is smarter than other children their age AND that's okay! Now I'm not saying that Cal is smarter than your kid, but we think she's pretty smart and here's why:
Well, we've been working on cleaning up and organizing the front bedroom. While we've been working in there culling out baby clothes and purging things out of the closet, Calloway has discovered that she can fit righ up under the baby bed and it has become her cave - a new favorite place to play. Well, the other night she had her jump rope and stretched it across the underneath side and around the slats. Then she began to pull on the rope and it made a sound! Mark was astonished and so proud! He got my attention right away and said, "Cari, she has essentially created her own stringed instrument! That's genius!" So here is our daughter's very first stringed instrument design. (*Please no copying - a patent may (or may not) be in progress!)
Then on Sunday night, Mark and Cal got home from church before I did. While they were waiting for me to arrive, Calloway got out her little magna-doodle thing and drew me at the church, her and Mark at home, and then a line to connect the two. Now, what you don't realize is that the line starts on the bottom left (at church) and ends at the top right (at home). Well, if you actually look at a map....those are the exact directions you would take if you drove from our church to our house. Again, Mark discovered the genius behind her work!
We've been working really hard at home on Calloway writing her name but it kept seeming like it was too hard or she just wasn't interested. Anyway, in the last month, she has begun to write her name. The other day she came home from preschool with this paper. This is the first time that she has actually written her name on her own work! I was so proud of her.....of course that /w/ needs a little work, but hey! The girl's got 8 letters in her name.....that's no easy task!
As evidenced a little in the above picture, we've also started making an effort to color inside the lines!
Such a cute Family! I found you on Kelly's link up. love the pics of your sweet girl.
