Today Calloway is officially 4 and a 1/2. Hence the half! She's half way to five, half past four. Where did the time go? She is beginning pre-kindergarten in the fall and will go to public school! She'll ride a real yellow school bus and everything! I can't believe the day is here. I feel like my little girl is getting so big!!!
We are really having fun this summer! There is so many things that she is independent at now, that it almost seems like she's bigger than she really is at times! For instance the other day, I was making her a sandwich for lunch and I turn around and she has gotten the butter and jelly off of the top shelf and out of the fridge! (*Okay, let me clarify because I'm sure you are all confused. Calloway does eat peanut butter and jelly, but not lately. She wants butter, yep, good ole margarin spread on her bread with a little jelly to go with it.)
Then one day last week I was talking to Mark and as many parents do who have little people in their house, when you don't want little people to pick up on things you keep talking but throughout your sentence you spell certain words so that it becomes a code language and hopefully your little person won't know what you said. Well, we were going somewhere s-p-e-c-i-a-l the next day and I spelled out the word t-o-m-o-r-r-o-w and almost immediately Calloway piped up with "Tomorrow!? Yay!" I was so shocked! Guess I'll have to change my code language to pig-latin or something!
Calloway has a new found obsession with horses. Our friends Terry and Barbara back in Texas started it all. Back in May they were "horse sitting" for Barbara's sister and brother-in-law while they were out of town. All they had to do was check on and feed the horses. Well, Terry thought that it'd be a great idea to take Calloway over there and let her help him feed the horses before they took her to preschool. There was a horse there named Buck and now, to Calloway, every horse we see gets the name Buck. This obsession has own grown bigger over the last few weeks. The other day we were at the store and she went nuts over all of the horse jigsaw puzzles begging to have one. Yesterday at Wal-Mart I bought her a little horse that whinnies and makes sounds and has a cow girl to ride it. She is in heaven with that thing. If any of you have visited Shawnee you know that there are these horse statues all around town. Well, any time we are driving around Mark and I have to make sure and point them out to her so that she can take an imaginary picture in her head. The other day she started yelling from the backseat, "Wait! Turn around! I didn't get that horse's legs in my picture!" She even crawls around on the floor pretending to be a horse. She has begun to ask us to go horse riding. She even mentioned horse lessons to me one day......oh my! We'll see where this obsession takes us but for now she is so happy and in love with horses.
I know that there are many other things that I could say and many memories that I'm forgetting but my favorite ones are after church in the car ride when she begins to talk about what she learned at church. We had a huge theological discussion about God being Jesus' father the other day and she wanted to know about Jesus' mother. It is fun to watch her grow and I pray that she will continue to ask us questions about God and who He is and that just like her obsession and curiosity with horses has grown that her curiosity about God will grow too!
Calloway, you could not be more perfect for me and daddy! I love you more and more each day. I pray that you will continue to learn more about Jesus. I am really looking forward to watching you grow on your way to being 5! I Love You! ~ Momma
PS: I love it when you do your "Statue of Liberty" pose!
