Purple People Eater

You know the good ole song "I thought I saw a One-Eyed, One-Horned, Flying, Purple People Eater...." well I'm pretty sure that purple people eater has been in my new classroom!

Yep! It's purple! And one of the most aweful shades of purple ever!
Luckily my good friend Sherwin, Sherwin Williams lives just down the road.
Well, I went to visit him the other day and let's just say that the Purple People Eater
won't be eating any people in my classroom this year!

Here is what you see when you first walk through the door. I know it's a mess right now, but once that purple is gone......it will magically find itself back in order.

*Please don't mind all of the stuff piled on the table and around.
The previous teacher was still getting her stuff out.
Those two green chalkboards are going to have to go also. I plan to install shower board. It's only $11 a sheet at Lowe's and basically acts like a white/dry erase board. And Frank, our fantastic custodian, can even cut it to size for me! Yay for friends like Frank!
When you enter the room (below) the left wall which is the south wall is full of cabinets, cubbies, and a long cork/bulletin board. I don't know if you can tell or not, but straight ahead is the teacher desk.
This is standing at the far end of the room and looking back toward the wall I just mentioned.
This school has Smart Boards, which is fine, I am used to a Promethean Board though, but these Smart Boards are significantly smaller. And I'm not sure who or why they put my Smart Board where they did, but it isn't even centered in the room or centered on that wall. It's really weird and I'm hoping it won't be a pain for when I begin rearranging the furniture.
I am pretty excited about all of the storage in the room though!
Oh, here's a closer up of the teacher's desk.
Hopefully I can be back in a few weeks with a finished and ready to go post!
I'm really looking forward to teaching only 3rd grade this year. It is definitely going to be a slightly new adventure for me. I also met the other 3 teachers that I'll be teaching with and I am excited for how much knowledge we are all going to impart to each other! It's going to be a fun year!
