Easter 2013

Wow, did Easter come early this year! Good thing I started shopping early in February for our family Easter attire. For those of you who are "newer" to the Burnett family blog, this momma has a 'thang' for us all being matchy-matchy when it comes to Easter, Christmas, and other professional family photos. However you may notice that many times Cal and I are wearing the same or similar color schemes to church most Sundays.
It's just "that thing I do"!
Anyway, this year I began with showing Cal several dresses online that I really liked and letting her pick or have the final say in which one she wanted. Well the website I found the dress on was Totsy and if you're familiar with their site  you know that they only offer their deals for 2-3 days and then it's gone. Well, when I went to "checkout", the deal had EXPIRED!!! No WAY!!! They did not just do that to me! You see that always seems to happen to me. .....Okay.....let's chase a small rabbit here, shall we? Well, anytime that I go shopping if I'm sort of indecisive over, something like a shirt, I'll think about it a few days, and if after a few days I still feel passionate about it, then I go back and purchase it. Well, let me just say that the mass majority of the time, when I go back, they no longer have my size or that particular color! Oh it just gets me....but in the words of those somewhat 'older' than me, "It just wasn't meant to be!" Does it ever just get you when someone says something like that?!?!?
Oh I digress.....anyway, I REALLY liked this little dress that Cal picked out and besides, our family hadn't done navy as an Easter color....ever! So obviously, that was the color scheme that we NEEDED to go with this year. Don't you worry though, I got clever! You see my friend Google, yeah, she can find ANYTHING!!! So I just went to visit her and gave her the name of the brand of this adorable little dress and she let me know right away that JC Penney (around this house we call it Jacque Penne) had this same little dress in stock AND that it was cheaper!!!! Woohoohoo!!! A girls dream come true, right?!?! So, I immediately, you've realized that I no longer sit back and wait, I added that sucker to my online shopping cart and ordered the thang. I could've driven to a few stores but by the time I got there, it COULD have been gone!
Therefore Cal's dress became the inspiration for the "Burnett Family Easter Colors" of 2013!
Isn't she a doll? (Hey, somebody teach that girl how to smile at the camera!)
Her dress even came with that hot pink little shrug.....can you believe it?

Then the hunt was on for momma's dress. It had to be navy with some pink and/or red in it! So, living in "Small Town, USA" I would save myself loads of time, by online window shopping to begin to see what was available out there in these color schemes. Well, the last few years I've had great success at Dress Barn and Macy's and I highly recommend both. This is the only time of year that I splurge a little more on the cost of a dress for me, plus having scored a GREAT price on Cal's dress made it even more exciting! Well, after narrowing it down online to about 6 dresses, I called in the hubs to get his unofficial opinion on which dress was "The Dress". After getting his opinions on each of the six he gave the final approval to order, and after another visit with my gal Google for some free shipping codes and other coupon codes, and a few clicks of the mouse later, I had another gorgeous dress on its way to my house!
Can you believe I found such a great match?!?! We really coordinate well, huh? Of course shoes for me and Cal-girl are always fun. Oh and don't forget the accessories (aka: jewelry). I picked up Cal's white Mary Janes a while back at Target (oh that's pronounced Tar-Jay in our house). I had intentions on buying new white lacy socks for her to.....but that somehow slipped my mind so we had to make due with what we had. I had navy blue suede flats already in my closet that I had purchased from Target a while back also and they turned out to be perfect! I love it when things just "match-up" like that! It makes my heart smile! As for the necklace, I ordered it from Very Jane a while back and the bracelets I already owned from Compass Trading Co. - boy do I miss that store! We REALLY need one here in "Small Town, America". I was so pleased when everything just started falling into place and super excited that the only thing I had to purchase was mine and Cal's dresses!

Honey - I think that should qualify me for the "Super Shopper of the Year" award......

Oh and the hubs....well.....since he already owns a navy blue suit, that made that easy. Oh and he already owns a pink shirt, and he had a great time already hanging on the rack that had red, pink, and white in it......
let's just say that he was in business! It's so good to know that so many of his clothes are versatile and can work with whatever crazy wonderful color schemes I come up with!
And folks, that's how we did Easter on a budget this year!
(How come she smiles great when standing by daddy?)

Anyway, we celebrated Easter with a WONDERFUL service at church followed by lunch with friends....that'll be another post.

But I'll leave you with the official BURNETT FAMILY EASTER PICs OF 2013!

What a glorious time to celebrate OUR RISEN LORD!
Happy Easter!
